The Big Wind and the Happy Snow

Hi friends, Ojo here!

We had a Big Storm. With the Big Storm came the Big Wind. I do not like the Big Wind. It makes the whole house shake. I had to hide in my person's bed all night. It was very scary!

But the next day, when I hopped out of my person's bed, I found that there was a lot of happy snow on the ground!

I will forgive the storm for the wind since it brought the perfect amount of happy snow.

Too much snow

Dear friends, I love the snow. But sometimes, when the snow is deeper than my head, I think there is such a thing as Too Much Snow.

Good Day with a Good Stick in the Good Forest

Hi friends, Ojo here. Today was a Good Day. I found a Good Stick. It was in the Good Forest.

Also it was very foggy and quiet at the Good Lake today. The Good Lake is in the middle of the Good Forest. I had a Very Good Walk.

Not pictured: After our Good Walk we went for a visit to a Good Place with Good People where I got Good Belly Rubs and Good Snacks.

Did I mention that today was a Good Day?

Very Late Walk

Hi friends, Ojo here. Today there is a problem. It is a Bad Thing. My Walk is Very Late.

I have poked my person with my nose. I have tried to lead her to the door. But she just keeps saying, "We'll go later, Ojo," while pushing around that noise-making-vacuum-thing. 

This is Not Right.

A little while ago I went into my youngest person's room and climbed onto the bed to wait somewhere comfortable. I am not supposed to be on the beds. But Walk is Very Late. 

After a while my person noticed I was missing. She looked for me everywhere. She called my name. But I did not respond. Because Walk is Very Late.

Eventually my person found me. She talked to me, and I think she even said it was okay I was on the bed, but I turned my head away. I do not want to talk to her. Because, you know, Walk is Very Late.

A very, very, very long time has passed. 

But wait - I hear my collar jingling. Finally!! It is Walk time!!

See you later friends! I am (finally finally finally) going for my Walk! Bye!

After-Walk Nap

Hi friends, Ojo here! We have fresh snow! I had a most fun and zoomy Walk today! 

Now it is time for a happy-nap.

The humans are weird. But we found snow!

Hi friends, Ojo here! 

A few days ago Car took us to our little-house-on-the-mountain. There is SNOW here! 

But then yesterday the people packed everything up, we got back into Car, and we started to head back to big-house-in-the-city. But then we stopped. Car turned around, and we went back to little-house-on-the-mountain. The people unpacked again.

Today the people packed everything up, we got back into Car, but nothing happened. I lounged in the back of Car, with the door open, for a long time. Finally the people unpacked again.

This was very weird. Humans are weird.

Since we did these random things, we now have extra time at our little-house-on-the-mountain. Today with our extra time we went for a most amazing Walk! The sun was shining! The snow was all hard and crusty and I didn't sink so I could walk anywhere and everywhere! 

On our Walk we climbed up to the Lake! There were chipmunks for chasing, and lots of things to dig out of the snow! If the humans are being weird, at least we get to go on snowy Walks! 

(Note from the human: There has been massive flooding here after a big storm. The roads were open earlier in the day yesterday, but then the rivers swelled and flooded and the roads got closed in multiple locations. In parts of our province entire sections of the highway have been washed away. Today the route home was open in a limited capacity, but then just as we were about to leave we found out that everything was either closed again or about to close. We are stuck. At least little-house-on-the-mountain is a nice place to be stuck! And we are safe.)

Smells in the Fall Forest

Hi friends, Ojo here! We visited the Forest again today!

The Forest is very wet right now and there are many lovely smells in the leaves and the soil. There are many delightful smells floating on the wind too!

There are also lovely smells coming out of my person's pocket. That smells like Cheese! I have been sitting here so nicely for you. Could I have some cheese, please?

Towel dry

Hi friends, Ojo here. After a long Walk in the rain I love the feeling of getting Toweled! 

I snuggle into Towel. I rub my ears and the sides of my face on Towel like a Cat. Sometimes I even make little happy moans. I'm not cold, I just love the feeling of Towel when I am wet!

Visiting Cobi's Rock

Hi friends, Ojo here!

Today we went to visit the place we call Cobi's Rock. This is a place that Cobi loved. It was one of the only places where she would leave our person's side to wander up and down and away and all over. She loved it here!

Cobi's Rock is a little bumpy mountain at the place called P'KOLS. It is covered in moss and grass and oak trees, and it is beautiful at every time of the year! Right now it is fall. The trees have dropped their leaves and the moss is damp and full of interesting smells.

We sat together at this place today, in the fog and fall sunshine, and thought of our Cobi. I think she may have sat with us for a while. We miss you Cobi, and we love you!

Thankful Thursday

Hi friends, Ojo here! 

Today I am thankful for: the warm sunshine on my fur and the cool moss on my belly, the crunchy smell of fall leaves on the ground, Breakfast, my people, getting Walks in great places every day, playing finding games with my nose, and popcorn.

Fall sunshine

Hi friends, Ojo here! It is raining. This is good! We need the rain. Our forests are much happier today. We also found some sunshine. What a happy day!

Taking breaks

Hi friends, Ojo here!

My person has decided I'm "starting to get up there" in years. She has decided that my body is "getting older".

I have no idea what she's talking about. I feel just the same as I always have! 

Okay, maybe sometimes I feel a little more stiff.

Okay, maybe sometimes I get tired more quickly. 

Okay, maybe sometimes my hip catches and I have to stop for a moment. 

But that's nothing! I am only nine (maybe, the humans aren't sure) years old! I am still very youthful! I am still very spry! I still run very fast!

Despite this, my person is stopping more often on Walks to give me "breaks". 

Okay, maybe I like lying down for a few minutes...

But only so I can get up and start running again!

This break was in a nice, cool spot! There were birds in the trees and lots of smells wafting by on the breeze! It was a good spot for a break!

Top of the World!

Hi friends, Ojo here! We climbed to the Top of the World! 

The breeze up here comes from all around. I can smell everything and everyone. I think I can even smell you! Hi friend, so lovely to smell you! Are you having a good day? I know I am!

Hi friends, Ojo here! I like to hang out on the stairs. They are very comfy for lounging!

Hi friends, Ojo here! I love my toys! And this one is one of my favourites. It makes a very loud squeak-whonk sound when I bite it! But it is also very soft. Perfect for a nap.

Too hot

Hi friends, Ojo here. It is too hot. I think I am melting.

Picking berries!

Hi friends, Ojo here! 

We are visiting little-house-on-the-mountain! There are many berries growing here! The people call these crowberries and wild blueberries. I call them yummy!

Look Momma C, there are more! Walks with snacks are the best!

The sky is orange! And I found a BALL!

Hi friends, Ojo here!

We had a very nice Walk today! It was a bit cloudy, so it was warm-but-not-too-hot. The grass was cool on my belly. AND I found this BALL in the grass!

Also the sun was ORANGE! This made everything extra-nice-looking! It was very pretty today!

Wait - those aren't clouds? That's SMOKE??? Wait - the sun isn't really orange, it's coloured because there's SMOKE???

Dear friends, it has been very hot and very dry. There are many trees and forests burning. Please send good wishes for all the trees and creatures and humans and Dogs that live in and around these forests. 

We are very lucky that there are no big fires near us. So far the smoke is staying very high and our air is still very good. Even I can't smell the smoke! 

I am very grateful that I can be outside playing with Found-Ball.

Hi friends, Ojo here! 

We are back at our big-house-in-the-city! It has been many months since I have been in this house and run through my yard and smelled all these smells! I has been many months since I have walked these trails and been around so many other Dogs and crunched in the dry arbutus leaves!

Truthfully we have been home for a while, but my person has been too busy to help my paws find the little buttons on the keyboard. We are all settling in. I think my person is finding it harder than me. 

Me? I am Very Happy to be home! I am happy to have my couch! I have happy to have my yard! I am happy to have more places to nap! I am happy to be living in a place that has popcorn for snacks! I am happy to have all my people living together again! 

I will write more soon. I hope you all are doing well and staying cool and getting lots of treats.

Crazy nap

 Hi friends! Ojo here! Do you ever find that you can't decide whether it's nap time or play time? Who says you can't do both? I call this crazy-napping!

The Climb and The Rest

Hi friends! Ojo here!

We are still living in little-house-on-the-mountain, but only for a few more days. Before we leave, my person wanted to climb the Big Mountain behind our little house at least one last time.

(In case anyone is wondering, this big mountain is called "ski hill". Dogs are not allowed here in the winter, but we can go here in the summer!)

I LOVE climbing the Big Mountain! There are so many smells! So many birds! So many little critters! 

Later in the summer there will be wild blueberries and when there are blueberries I eat them the whole way until my tummy is full of blueberries! 

This time there were no blueberries, but there was still a lot of Snow! I love Snow!

I took a break on top of the Big Mountain on this Little Mountain of Snow. It was a good place to rest and cool my tummy, which got hot from all the running up hill!

Spring has finally arrived on our mountain top!

The weather has gone from mostly-cold to suddenly-very-hot!

Do you know what I do when it's HOT? I go for a swim!

I'm not a big swimmer. I must admit I'm not super-comfortable in the water. But on HOT days I slide in and paddle around just long enough to get my entire body wet. Ahh, that feels much better!

Cobi did not swim. Ever. Never-ever-ever. But I like to do it sometimes.

It's my Gotcha Day!

Hi friends! Ojo here! Today is my Gotcha Day!

I came to live with my family eight years ago today! For my Gotcha Day we went on one of my favourite Walks AND my person gave me baby carrots! I love carrots!

Also, I have to say, having been Gotcha'd for eight years and alive for even longer, I am probably around nine years old now and I am getting Very Wise. You can tell this by the grey on my face, and also because I now know so much about life. I am a Very Good Dog, and my people tell me so every day!

The sun is setting

Hi friends, Ojo here. The sun is setting on our time living on our mountain top. Soon we will be going back to big-house-in-the-city. 

I am looking forward to having all my people around! I am also looking forward to spending time with my Yard! But I will miss the big skies and big smells, and all the space to run with so few others here.
