I was born in Alabama! Cyrus was born in Michigan! But we are both now Canada Dogs!

I am writing to report that I've decided that Cyrus is okay. I can do All The Walks with my person anymore, and while I very much want to, Cyrus is filling in for me. He's turning out to be a pretty good pack mate.

A Special Walk at a Special Place!

Last night we went on a Special Walk! This is a Special Place that I have been to many times, but it was the first time for Cyrus!

Puppy ME?

In celebration of my 13th Gotcha Day, which is coming up in a few weeks, my person asked something called A-Eye to make a picture of what I looked like as a puppy!

I don't remember what I looked like! Do you think this might be ME, friends?

My person doesn't know how old I was when I came home, but this is what I looked like way back then.

And this is ME now!

Happy Walk through Fields and Forest!

Hi hi hi! Ojo here!

We had a very Very Happy Walk today! 

It was an accidental Walk! We were supposed to do our Lake Walk, which is also a Happy Walk, but there were hundreds and hundreds of people running and parking and putting up cones to block our trail!

So we did a Walk that our person and I remembered from a very long time ago! 

I don't think we've done this Walk since Cobi was with us! And Cyrus has never done this Walk!

We walked through the fields with grass and flowers and critters! We walked through the forest with faerie rings and old trees!

I zoomed, friends! I zoomed like I haven't zoomed in many years!

And Cyrus zoomed like I used to when I was young!

We have decided. We would like to do this Walk again. Soon.

Cuddle Time

Most evenings we do Cuddle Time! This is where we all hop onto the Bed and have cuddles! 

Well, Cyrus hops onto the Bed. I get a lift! (I don't hop so well anymore, friends.)

Sometimes we cuddle with our person, and sometimes (but just sometimes) we cuddle with each other! 

Cuddle Time is a happy time!

Spring Pawtraits

Hi hi hi! Ojo here!

We went on one my favourite Walks! To do this Walk, first we drive to Grandma's house, and then we start walking into Forest. There are trails! There are critters!

And Grandma came, too!

I found this patch of plants to lie in! (It was HOT, friends! And the plants were cool on my fur.) (But don't worry, I didn't squish any!)

Our person thought we looked very nice in the plants! She did pawtraits!

Conversation

 Hi hi hi! Ojo here!

Today Cyrus and I had a conversation. We talked about squirrels! And Dogs! And snacks from the humans!

And Walks and cats and leashes and comfy beds and small young humans! 

And whether, when we find animal poop, it's best to roll in it, pee on it, or eat it! (I say all three are best!)

Cyrus asked me if his stick was the same as a tree. I said I wasn't sure. But does it matter?

Beach Day!

Hi hi hi! Ojo here!

Today was Beach Day!!!!

I haven't had Beach Day since before Cyrus came! And Cyrus has never had Beach Day! This was his First Beach Day Ever!

(Our person says that she was waiting for the following things: for the weather to be nicer, and for Cyrus to be a good enough listener that he will leave Dead Beach Things alone when asked!)

(And yes, we did find a few Dead Beach Things! Hurray for Dead Beach Things!)

We found seaweed! We found dead crabs! (Yum!) We found sticks!

By accident, Cyrus followed a Dog into the deep water! He got wet all over! He found this very strange! 

For us Dogs, it was a day of lovely smells! For our person, it was a day of lovely sights 

(If you look closely at the picture below friends, you can see Esquimalt and the City of Victoria on the horizon! And if you look very very closely, you can see Mount Baker behind the tall buildings!)

(But we weren't looking, we were smelling!)

This was the Best Walk Ever! Hurray for Beach Day!

My person and Cyrus are playing a game! There is a toy tied to a rope! It flies around Yard! Cyrus catches it and tugs it!

He likes this game very much!

Me, I just try to stay out of the way!!

Sunrise Lake

We found a sunrise at the Lake! We like doing Walk first thing in the morning, when all the smells from the nighttime critters are still strong!

It's springtime, friends!

We are spending lots of time outside. Here are some pictures of Cyrus that my person thinks are cute.

Crate is great?

Cyrus really seems to like his crate-dens. Since Nature is making rain today, I thought I would try them. I tried the one in the office, and I tried the one in the bedroom, but I don't know what the big deal is. They seem kind of boring to me...

Pee Ess I used to sleep in a crate-den all the time. But now I sleep on the Bed in the spare room. I have earned this privilege because I am old, friends. But also because I behave very nicely at night! 

Lagoon + flowers = small ball

We took Cyrus to the Lagoon! 

And then we spent a long time in a big field that had flowers in it! And mice! And bunnies!

Then we went home, and Cyrus turned himself into a Very Small Ball for the rest of the afternoon!

I accidentally lay too close to Cyrus.

And then Cyrus rolled over and accidentally cuddled me.

This was purely an accident.

Mud No Mud

Hi hi hi! Ojo here!

We live in a place where the weather is MUD for more than half of the year.

I am a Black Dog. My fur hides the mud. 

Cobi was a Brown Dog. Her fur hid the mud. (Except for her paws, which were light and always told on her when she'd been wading in mud puddles.)

Pepper was a Black Dog. His fur hid the mud.

But Cyrus is a Mostly-White Dog.

What was our person thinking???

Friends, I don't think you can see the level of the problem. Cyrus' legs are BROWN MUD. Cyrus' tummy is BROWN MUD. Cyrus' chest is BROWN MUD.

Even the top of his head has brown mud on it!

But here's the thing... It only takes about three hours, and then Cyrus is dry and the mud is GONE.

How does that happen? I still have mud on ME! Where did Cyrus' mud go?

(Our person says that Cyrus has a coat like a silken windhound, which means that his coat is like something called teflon... whatever that is. When he dries, all the mud falls off!)

(Our person also says that this is why we have the weird-vacuum-robot-thing that goes around the house in circles, sucking up the dirt and mopping the floors!)
