The season is changing

Dear friends,

The season is changing. It is still HOT sometimes during the day, but it is much cooler at night. The rains are teasing us with what is to come. The oak trees are starting to drop their leaves. (Our person is grumpy about this, she says raking is a lot of work. But I think chasing the rake is FUN, so I am excited for this!)

And we had FOG!!! The fog horns were all making their OOOOO-ooooo noises on our Walk.

Soon all this brown grass will be green again.

Unfortunately also soon all this dry ground will be MUD. We won't be as happy to lie down in the mud.

But in the meantime we are enjoying all the smells that stick in the wet, foggy air.

The fog and the cooler air made us both feel very happy! Hurray for cooler days! Welcome, fall!

Fall means fog (and rain)

The rains have started. This is very good. Nature is taking a deep breath and all the plants are sighing with relief. Also all of the smells are so strong after rain, so sniffing is very interesting right now.

This morning we climbed to the Top of the World. But the world was GONE!

We could still smell it, but we could not see it. This was because of the fog.

But this was okay, because the fog meant no hot sun. It meant very interesting smells lingering in the wetness of the air. It meant a cooler morning so we had more energy for zoomies.

And it was not raining. So we were all very happy. Because even though rain is good right now, we still do not like walking in it.

Is Fall happening where you are?

Quiet fall fog

The world was magical this morning.

The air was very still. There were tiny droplets of water hanging all around us, and these water droplets carried many different scents and smells, but no sound. It was very quiet.

There were birds, but they were very quiet. Just a flap-flap-flap of wings, and that was all.
Even the bunnies and squirrels were tucked away, hiding, quiet.

I wonder where the water droplets in the air came from?
I wonder why the birds were so quiet?
I wonder why the air was so still?

Fall, we never knew you could be so beautiful!

Fog and fall weather

Dear friend-of-my-people-who-may-move-to-our-island,

Our person says we have been very useful giving you weather reports! I am not surprised as we are very clever Dogs.

This morning there was Fog! It was amazing because the air was very calm and still, and also the wet air carried many interesting smells.

In the mornings it has been cold. Not too cold - perfect for us Dogs with our handy fur coats! But the people, who do not have fur coats, need to put on an extra layer or two, and also something on their hands which are way more delicate than our paws.

By the middle of the day Nature has been making sun, and sometimes this has been getting hot! I highly recommend lounging on a porch or patio in this sun.

The night-times have been crisp and cold, full of the smells of fall. Also I heard an owl the other night.

It is FALL! (by Ojo)

Nature has decided that Summer is done. It is now time for Fall!

This means fog, and rain, and wind. And it is much cooler.

All of these things are Good, at least for us Dogs! Rain means better smells for sniffing! Fog carries more scents and sounds to us! And cooler wind days mean that we do not get as hot, so we can explore longer!

Hurray for Fall! We welcome you!

Fog and Quiet

Before we came home from being Away we had one last walk. Nature was making Fog and Quiet.

This was a very pawessome Walk because we had the whole lake-swamp-forest-alpine-meadow to ourselves. Everything was still and quiet. (Except for Ojo.) The wet air held all sorts of interesting smells. It was a very amazing Walk.

The foggy fog and my Ball

Oh Ball.

In the foggy fog you bounce and fly
Off my person's foot and through the wet grass
Through the smelly mud.

I open my mouth to catch you in it.

Oh Ball.

I do not fetch, but I like to chase
You are hard to see in the foggy fog
But I am happy to chase you still.

Ojo comes
Bounding through the fog, running too fast
She sniffs at you, oh Ball
But leaves you for me.

You are mine.
