Mushy ground

Yesterday it rained. Today the sun came out. We visited a lake.

The ground all around the lake and in the forest was full of water. It was mushy and wet under my paws. Running was a bit hard because it was slippery, and because my paws stuck in the mud. Luckily I have four of them. My person found it harder than I did since she only has two paws on the ground.

Everything was dripping wet and full of water. The world smelled very interesting.

After our walk we went into different part of the forest. It was Sniffing Day. Today I followed Molly's person. Except first I had to wait. Molly's person walked off and I knew where she went, but I had to wait and wait and wait. I got very impatient. I made whine noises. Eventually, finally, I got to go. Then I found her very fast. I am very good at this.

Wharrgarbl

Here is another dog friend who likes hoses. I think he likes them even more than me. I wonder, does he get water up his nose?

Tubes

My people are doing something funny called "wrapping". They take something and they put it in a box. Then they put paper around the box. Then the paper-box goes under the thing that looks like a tree but smells like plastic. Sometimes they tie a string around the paper-box, and then the cat named Jack eats the string.

This is all very peculiar. I'm not sure why they do this, but there is a good part for me. Inside the paper are tubes. Big tubes. I love tubes.

At work

Here I am waiting to start sniffing. I know she went that way... Can we go yet?

Today's game was to find friend-who-visits-lots-and-walks-in-forest. Here I found her through some prickly bushes and behind a tree. She had lots of yummy turkey for me.

I like this new sniffing game.

My new place

This is my new place. I didn't like it at first because I am very far away from my people. But on the other paw I have lots of windows and can see in many directions. I like to look out the big back window when we're driving. I also have a comfy bed. Do you see my box of things? In it are my towels, water for drinking, my new orange sniffing harness and my leashes. This is my place.

Today we had a short visit to UVic Dog Park. The sun was out but Nature was making a very cold wind. The rest of the day I slept and chewed on my kong which had something cold and yummy in it. I'm still tired from yesterday.

More sniffing

This morning started off like a normal Friday. I got in the car with Momma B and we dropped off my littlest person at the place she calls "school". But then we came home. This was very disappointing. What happened to our fun?

Eventually the fun came. We went to Mt. Doug. I ran in the forest. I met the dog named Mylie who I've played with at Dallas Road Beach. I met another dog called Murphy who liked to chase and play. Then I had to back in the car, and my person disappeared! Why does this keep happening these days?

After what felt like a very long time my person came back to get me. We found Simon's person, whose name is Trainer. We went for a little walk, and then Trainer took my bag of cheese and meat and ran away.

Aha! I know what this game is!

I pulled on my harness and leash and told my person to let me go. Eventually she did, and I went right away, very fast, to find Trainer. Of course Trainer was very pleased when I found her and gave me meat and cheese. I was very pleased too.

We did this three more times. The last time I found where Trainer turned around and went in a circle. I followed her path, and exactly her path, all the way to where she was in the bushes behind a big tree. I am very clever. More meat and cheese, please!

We walked back to the car, and out came Simon. I had a long run with Simon. But then Simon still had energy, and I was getting very tired from my walk and from all the sniffing. Trainer put Simon on a leash and tied him to a post. My person put me on a leash. (But it wasn't my leash, it belonged to some other dogs and also to Simon.)

Then we did a strange game. My person fed Simon, then she fed me. Then she fed Simon, then she fed me. I decided not to get worried about this since I was getting lots of good things to eat. And sometimes Trainer would surprise me with something tasty too.

Finally it was time to go home. I am very tired. I worked hard today!
