My littlest person has been missing this week. So that she is not lonely, Momma B has sometimes been picking me up early from the place called "work". She then takes me to the park. This happens even before dinner! I am happy to keep Momma B company at the park.
The most exciting part is that all the dogs are back. This is wonderful.
I am so very pleased that all the dogs are back! It must be spring.

Home
Today everything we brought to our borrowed house went back into boxes and bags. This always worries me because I do not know what is happening.
We got into the truck and drove for a long time. I was relieved that the people did not forget me.
After driving for a while I started to not feel very good. I started to pant. Things were not good inside of me. We kept driving. The people opened the window for me. This was nice, but things were still very unhappy inside my belly. I poked the people in the front with my nose. I need to get out of the truck please!
Eventually they stopped. Momma B put on my leash and told me I could get out of the truck. I jumped down. I took a few steps. Then everything that was bad came out the back end of my body. It kept coming out for a long time.
Finally everything felt okay again. I got back into the truck. I made my body into a little ball and went to sleep.
When I woke up again we were somewhere very familiar. We were home!

Another snowy walk day
My people have been asking me to wear my walking harness when we go out into the snowy forest. They tell me this is in case I fall into a hole. Then they will be able to pull me out by my harness.
I have not fallen into any holes. But I will wear my harness if it means I get to go out in the snow!
Today I spent some time in the truck waiting for Momma B. Then she took me for a walk. It was snowing again. I love it here. I am a snow dog!

Snow trails
Today we went in the truck to the fun place again.
I know the routine now. The people leave me outside while they go inside and get something to put on their feet.
The first few times I worried about this. But now I know that they do not go away for very long, and when they come back we go to play in the snow. So I wait patiently for them. I am a good dog.
Today we went along little trails in the forest. Many other people have walked along these trails, and a few other dogs too. I used my nose to check it all out.
When the people were too slow I found sticks to chew.
The little trail was fun to hide in.
When I got bored with sticks I bounced in the snow around my people. Sometimes I stepped on the back of their big flat shoes. This always made them move out of my way.
Part way through our walk we stopped for a break. My littlest person was tired. The people had a snack. They shared.
I am very tired after all this fun. Almost too tired to eat my bone. Almost.

The wonderful places people can go with big flat shoes
Today was another very fun day. We went to the same place where the people put sticks on their feet yesterday. Only this time when they came out of the building they put on big flat shoes. We walked out into the snow.
Here I am chasing something in the snow.
Here I am playing a fun game with Momma C.
These past few days have been great. Can we stay in the snow forever?

Running around the roof and sticks on feet
This morning my littlest person came to let me out of my crate-den. She had treats in her pocket. She took me outside. When she said the special word "come" I ran to her right away. She gave me something yummy.
We understand each other again. This is good.
Outside we then played a fabulous game. My littlest person ran around one side of our borrowed snow-house. I ran around the other side. The snow is so very deep that we were running around the roof. When we found each other in the middle we made noises, then turned and ran the other way.
This was much fun.

Later we all got in the truck and drove to a new place. The people left me outside a big building. I waited.
When they come out out they put big long flat sticks on their feet. They had round sticks in their hands too. These sticks made them move fast in the snow. I ran along beside them. I like it when the people can move fast like me!

Good day, bad day, good day
Today was a good day, then a bad day, and then a good day again.
First thing, as soon as the door to my crate-den was opened, I went outside with Momma B. The sun was coming up and there was lots of fresh snow.
We climbed and explored new places.

Then the people got out something yummy smelling. I went into my crate-den so they would give it to me. They did. But then they shut the door. They left. They forgot me.
I made some noises so they would remember me and come back. But they didn't. This was very sad.
I waited.
A very long time later they came back.
And the day got better again. I went outside to play with Momma B and my littlest person. This was much fun.
What is my littlest person doing?
In the evening I was very tired. I had a misunderstanding with my littlest person. We both felt sad.
Momma B talked to us for a long time. Then my littlest person got out some treats. Now we are friends again.

A place with very much snow
This morning the people were very busy making piles of food and other things. There was a pile for me too. I sat on my pile so that it wouldn’t go anywhere without me.
All of the piles went in the truck. Then I went in the truck too. We drove for a long time. I don’t like being in the truck for a long time. It is very boring.
But when we stopped we were somewhere amazing. I have never seen so much snow in my entire life!
We played in the snow. Then I went for a long walk with Momma B. Then we rested. Then I chased snow balls again. Now I rest more. Today was amazing!

Nature moved the sun
Something strange today... After dinner when we went out for our walk it was still light out. Has Nature moved the sun?
Earlier today there was very much rain. Momma C took me outside a few times but I do not like the rain. It gets in my eyes. I do not like this.
Tonight, because Nature had moved the sun and stopped the rain, we went to the Park. It was very muddy. As soon as we got inside the park I heard people call my name. I followed my person around the squishy path to a crowd of other people and other dogs. I had not seen most of these dogs since before winter. Chaz and Jasper and Bella and Chewie. Chester came out for a short time too.
Playing with dogs after dinner was very exciting. I was starting to get bored of chasing the little red dot.
Nature, thank-you for moving the sun!

Nature's big wind makes sniffing a person's track hard
Today my person took me to Mt. Doug and said the special words "go track". But it was very hard. Nature was making very strong winds was blowing the smell all over the place. The scent, by the way, belonged to woman-who-visits-lots-and-walks-in-forest. I knew who it was even before my person opened the bag because I could smell where she had walked on the trail already.
But it was hard to follow her on the trail. The wind was blowing the smell away and into funny places, and I was sure she had gone up a little path, even though my person said "no" and wouldn't let me go that way. I felt stressed. I ate some grass. My person asked me to try again. I did. But I was still stressed. I ate more grass. Have patience with me Momma B, this is really hard.
My person backed me up a ways and gave me the smell in the bag again. I decided to try again, just for Momma B. I put my nose down and worked very hard. We moved very slowly. This was okay, because my person still made pleased noises and said the word "good" a lot.
Then the track went into the forest and this was much easier. Less wind and more things to hold the smell in place. I moved fast. But then we left the forest and got onto open trail again. I knew which direction the track went, but then I lost her smell. By now I was getting tired. I looked at my person.
Oh Momma B, this is really hard.
My person backed me up into the woods again. I wanted to go all the way back, but she didn't let me go very far. She asked me to "check around". I did. I could smell where woman-who-visits-lots-and-walks-in-forest had gone, but I was feeling frustrated. I shook my body. That helped a bit.
My person said "back to work" and started walking in the direction of the big open trail. So I put my nose down and tried again. I moved slowly. I checked all over both sides of the large trail where the wind was blowing. By going back and forth and side-to-side I kept moving in the right direction.
And then something good happened. The track went back into the forest. There were bushes on the ground and lots of piles of prickles. The smell was stuck onto each of the bushes and each of the prickles. I could smell clearly now so I started going fast again. In fact, I knew we were getting really close. I closed my eyes and pushed through a big pile of prickles. And then, behind a tree, there she was! Woman-who-visits-lots-and-walks-in-forest! I found her!
She had handfuls of meat for me. Whew. That was really hard work.
My person took off my sniffing harness and we went for a wonderful walk in the forest. It was good to be walking and playing. It was one of the most fun walks I've had in a long time, with running and sniffing, and new trails I'd never been on before. It was worth doing all that hard work to get such a wonderful walk after.

Mud and friends
Mud and friends! Brodie, Simon and Teddie.
Playing, running, sniffing. Fun. Water and mud.
Oh yeah. I found Momma B's shirt in the woods too. I am so very amazing.

My favourite things
Walks in the forest and walks by the sea
Ice cream and popcorn and chicken for me
Bouncing through snow with legs like big springs
These are a few of my favourite things
Climbing big cliffs and walking on logs
Having a sniff and chasing fast dogs
Chewing on bones with marrow that clings
These are a few of my favourite things
Chasing red dots and chasing a hose
Digging through stuff and using my nose
Anything meat that had fins, hooves or wings
These are a few of my favourite things
When the people leave
When I'm left alone
When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember my favourite things
And then I don't feel so bad
(But I feel even better if I have one of my favourite things with me, like a bone... bone please...)

A pop corn
The little white thing on my paw is one of my favourite things in the whole wide world. It is called a "pop corn". I will do anything for a pop corn.
May I eat it now please?
Gone.
