SUN!!!

Hi hi hi, Ojo here! Today we found SUN!

Not only did the Forest give us SUN, it also gave us many damp smells for sniffing, and many fun trails for running on, and many good sticks for chasing!

Also, I got to do tricks for cheese!

This was a Good Walk.

Did you get a Good Walk today, friends?

Warm and sticky and grey

Hi friends, Ojo here!

These past few days the weather has been warm and sticky and grey. Even though there is no-sun I am still getting Hot very quickly.

But Hot doesn't stop me from zooming in the forest!

What has your weather been doing, friends?

Smells in the Fall Forest

Hi friends, Ojo here! We visited the Forest again today!

The Forest is very wet right now and there are many lovely smells in the leaves and the soil. There are many delightful smells floating on the wind too!

There are also lovely smells coming out of my person's pocket. That smells like Cheese! I have been sitting here so nicely for you. Could I have some cheese, please?

What lovely smells did you find today?

Forest (by Ojo)

Hi hi hi! Ojo here!

This is my forest!
It is your forest too.
And the forest
Of bunnies, squirrels, deer, raccoons,
Crows, owls, and the wise raven.
Bugs, beetles, worms,
Lichens, mushrooms, fungus, and mosses.
The mighty cedars.
Douglas Fir, Garry Oaks, and playful alder.
Salal and blackberries and gigantic ferns.

We all breath together.
We all share this place.

This is my forest!
It is your forest too.

We are busy, thankyouverymuch

No, sorry, we do not want to do the posing thing for pictures right now. We are busy with these smells. Yes, this is a very pretty place. And yes, we are very pretty too. But you can admire the prettiness without us, thank you very much. We are busy.

Fall in the forest

It is Fall in our forest.

The crunchy leaves are fun to sniff and poke around in. Sometimes they hide interesting things underneath like mice or dead critters!

What is Nature doing where you live?

The forest (by Ojo)

Hi hi hi! Ojo here!

This is my forest.

When I first arrived at my new home, I had never seen or smelled anything like this before!

I was afraid. The trees were so big! The smells were so big! The land was so big! I thought perhaps a monster would come out of the bushes and eat me. I stuck very close to my new people, and hid behind them if anything smelled or sounded or moved in a strange way.

But now I know my forest! It is full of life!

The trees and plants breathe in and out, very slowly. Water runs underground and overground. Sometimes the forest is full of sunlight, and sometimes it is full of fog.

The bugs scurry around, absolutely everywhere.

The birds flit through the trees, making noises and homes and babies. Little birds, and big birds too like eagles and owls, crows and ravens.

There are squirrels and bunnies, mice and rats, deer and raccoons. And other Dogs and people too!

I love my forest. It is magical!

Meet the forest (by Ojo)

Hi hi hi! Ojo here!

Have you met our Forest yet? No?

Everyone, this is Forest!

Yes, yes Cobi, I am telling them all about it!

First of all, our Forest has many large trees! These trees are fir and cedar, and also some maple and alder. Some trees are dead and have fungus and mushrooms growing on them!

Under the trees are ferns and salal and moss-covered rocks! The ground is dark soil full of worms! (Our person calls it "mud", but it is so much more than that!)

Our Forest is full of rain right now. Everything is growing! There are leaves coming out on all the branches!

Also, our forest is full of smells! Bunnies and squirrels and birds! Deer! And there are many dead things for me to find too!

I love our Forest! Momma C, thank-you for bringing us to Forest today!

When we climb a mountain...

...we always stop to sniff and look around along the way...

...because our person...

...loves the forest and the mountains and Nature just as much as we do.

And playing with Sticks. Sticks are good too.

Walking with Ojo - my life is not fair

My friends, I don't think you realize how much my life has changed since this silly black Dog came to live with us.

One thing is that we almost never get to go to Beach anymore. This is because Ojo is "crazy monkey", which means that she climbs the "keep off the cliff face" cliff to chase birds (at Dallas Road Beach), or crazy-leaps up the walls that are as high as my person to run around in people's yards (at Willows Beach and Cadboro Bay Beach).

She does not listen to OjoCome very well yet when she is being a crazy monkey. So no beach for me, unless my person is having a day where she has a lot of the thing called "patience".

This is not fair.

Instead we have been doing many Walks in the Forest and climbing the mountain. Don't get me wrong - I love the Forest. And my person tries to make it interesting for me by taking different trails each day while she and the black one practise "OjoCome".

So at least I do get to go on nice Walks with my person. We hang out together and enjoy the scenery and smells. She gives me pets. I brush her leg as I trot past and give her my big smiles to tell her I am very happy to be here with her (even if we're not at Beach). Sometimes I have a little run. I do lots of sniffing.

I stay close to my person because that is what a Good Dog does.

But this is all we see of Ojo on our Walks.

Or this...

And lots of this... (Can you see her?)

I just stay close to my person and watch. Ojo is a too much of a crazy Dog for me.

Maybe one day we will get to go to Beach again... Sigh.

Fall, mountains and sun... and Ojo

Today we went for a Walk in the forest. But because Nature was making Sun, instead of all that rain, we climbed. We went high out of the forest and onto the rocks.

Here I am at the very top of the mountain. Aren't I majestic?

I like climbing. I like going high up, as high as we can go. I like sniffing the breeze. I like feeling the warm Sun on my fur.

There were leaves on the ground. There was damp earth full of smells. There were rocks to climb on, and breezes to smell.

However, unfortunately, there was also Ojo...

Stealing my sunshine. Drinking from my puddles. Lying down in my puddles. Pushing in front of me on the path. Running everywhere like a crazy-Dog.

Wet from the grass and bushes...

The people think she is "cute". Really??
Sigh...

At least, up top, I was the Queen-Dog, sniffing and surveying my kingdom below. Isn't the Fall sunshine wonderful?

"Lost"

Today my person and I got "lost".

We went to a new not new place. My person was not familiar with this place, but I knew exactly where we were. I used to go to this place with my dog-sister-of-my-heart-and-body, Raven.

This is a very special place, with old forest and many animals.

But my person did not know the right way.

We followed a path, but then the path went away. We were in the forest. We were "lost".

I knew exactly where we were of course, but my person never listens to me so we wandered around in big circles for a while. This was lots of fun.

Unfortunately, after a while we got "found" again.

My person gave me one of these. It was very sweet. They are berries, and they are black in colour. I wonder what they are called?

This part of the forest floor was very soft. I could smell the animals called deer everywhere around here. I think this might be where they sleep. I tried it out.

I enjoyed this game very much. Can we play "lost" again sometime soon, Momma B?
