Snow Nap

Sometimes,
when the sun is warm on your back,
and the snow is cool on your belly,
it is time to lie down
and have
a nap.

NOT spring, but still happiness!

This is NOT spring. BUT it is still very happy!

We we for a very-long-very-boring drive in Truck. When we stopped, we were in SNOW!

We did much running and much zooming.

We sniffed and we explored.

(Aren't I beautiful?)

We spent much time looking and sniffing everywhere. It was amazing!

We even looked UNDER the snow!

It was so amazing, and I felt so happy, that I even decided I would play with Ojo! (Wasn't that nice of me?)

By the end Ojo's tongue was falling out.

Oh Snow, I love you!!!

Of Beaches, Balls, and our one day of Spring! (by Ojo)

Hi hi hi! Ojo here!

We had One Day of Spring! (And now Nature is doing rain and cold again.)

But our person was so happy with our One Day of Spring that not only did we get to go to the special-oak-tree-many-grasses-park (Cobi told you about this!), but we also got to go to the Beach!

I was very busy at the Beach!

I ran! I chased Ball! I fetched Ball!
I ran! I chased Ball! I fetched Ball!
I ran some more! I chased Ball some more! I fetched Ball some more!

Cobi did not fetch, although she was very happy so she did carry her Ball a small ways!

Did I mention that I ran? Did I mention that I chased Ball? Did I mention that I fetched?

We were not the only ones on the Beach. The whole city was happy that Nature made One Day of Spring! Everyone was on the Beach!

(And I was very good! I did not steal any Balls that were not mine. I did not crash into any Dogs or people. And I came back every time my person called me!)

Hurray for our One Day of Spring!
(Please come back soon, Spring!)

Oh Spring! You are LATE!

Oh Spring!
You came to visit us
For one day only.

Oh Spring!
We are very happy
That you were here.
But...

Oh Spring!
You are LATE!

Don't get us wrong.
We are very happy to be running
In your warm sunshine!

We are are very happy to be rolling
In your fresh green grass
That is damp and soft and wonderful!

We are very happy
That it was warm enough
(at least for one day)
To lie in the damp grass
And sniff the smells on the breeze
In your fresh fresh air.

BUT
Oh Spring!
You are LATE!

And you did not stick around.

I hope you come again soon
For real this time
(So I can run and roll and lie
in your fresh green grass
in the sunshine).

Please come soon.

Oh Spring!

Us

This is us at the Top of the World. We can see and smell forever up here!

But please note: This picture makes Ojo look bigger than me. She is not bigger than me. I am the bigger Dog. This is important.

The trick is...

When we go for a Walk at muddy-grass-big-fields-and-then-lake, we stop to do a Trick.

This Trick is very simple. Right now Lake is very full. There are people-benches that normally are on dry land, but right now these people-benches are out in the water. This is because Lake is too full.

Here is the trick. Our person wades out to a bench. She stands on it. We wade out too, in the cold, over-full lake. We put our paws up on the back of the bench. We get treats.

But here is the trick. Our person tells us that this is Fun, and Training. But we know the truth! The truth is this: After our walk through muddy-grass-big-fields, we are muddy-dogs. By getting us to wade into the Lake, our person is washing off all of our mud!

She thinks she is very clever. She thinks she has tricked us. But we know the truth!

So why do we do it? Why do we let her wash off all of our lovely, stinky, sticky mud? Because there is Cheese involved, of course!!

This face? (by Ojo)

Hi hi hi! Ojo here!

Why am I making this face?

I can't help it! I am being asked to sit around, on this silly park bench, while our person stares at us through her little-camera-thing.

Instead of running, I am sitting.
Instead of sniffing, I am sitting.
Instead of playing, I am sitting.

Phooey.
