Taking breaks

Hi friends, Ojo here!

My person has decided I'm "starting to get up there" in years. She has decided that my body is "getting older".

I have no idea what she's talking about. I feel just the same as I always have!

Okay, maybe sometimes I feel a little more stiff.
Okay, maybe sometimes I get tired more quickly.
Okay, maybe sometimes my hip catches and I have to stop for a moment.

But that's nothing! I am only nine (maybe, the humans aren't sure) years old! I am still very youthful! I am still very spry! I still run very fast!

Despite this, my person is stopping more often on Walks to give me "breaks".

Okay, maybe I like lying down for a few minutes...
But only so I can get up and start running again!

This break was in a nice, cool spot! There were birds in the trees and lots of smells wafting by on the breeze! It was a good spot for a break!

Ojo, nine is just "edging into your older years," that's what we tell our cardigans! I was worried your Mas were going to take a break from telling your story. I am very glad that is not the case!

I'm nine years old too, Ojo, and mom says that I still have way too much Terrier energy and that's a good thing but I'm never off leash like you are.

We're both almost nine years old, Ojo. You look like you're enjoying your walks in the woods. How nice of your mom to be looking out for you and making sure you feel good.

Lightning needs to take lots of breaks too, Ojo. Actually he only walks about four houses and then wants to go home. Mom has to keep coaxing him to go a little further. Take those breaks and enjoy your walks.

You still look like a pup to us.

You look so happy Ojo... you have a good mama who knows how to treat you. all of this is why we rescue older dogs because what you are doing is what WE have to do for ourselves, we get older dogs that feel like us. I did make the mistake of looking up the life span of great danes and wish i had not. now i am fretting over Beau who will be 8 on Oct 14th. he is slowing also, he went from 6 to 10 chase of the ball 5 times a day, to 2 or 3 chase twice a day.

Hi Ojo,
Taking breaks between runs is the perfect way for the 'mature' pup to enjoy his walkies.

Hi Ojo! Nine years YOUNG is what you are! Enjoy your walks, take breaks if you want to (or just to please your mom) and have fun! You look like you are!

Taking breaks is good. We should take time to enjoy the little things.
