A toy story! (by Ojo)

Hi hi hi! Ojo here!

I was very clever! Look what I did to my toy! I made it dead!

I did it for a very good reason! Let me tell you why...

It started with these things. They appeared on the wall!

This is very exciting! This means that SANTA is coming!

The little one belongs to Cobi, and the big one is MINE!

I started getting excited thinking about all the things Santa could put into my big stocking! Bones! Treats! And, of course, TOYS!!

But then my person said to me, "Ojo, you do not need any more toys. You and Cobi already have twenty-gazillion toys. They are everywhere. You do not need any more."

I reminded my person that we love toys!

And she said, "Yes Ojo, I know you do, but you do not need any more."

Hm. This is not good.

Look here. This is me and Cobi chewing on our toys. See how much we love our toys? And see how gentle we are with them?

We are very Good. We take good care of our toy-friends! Our toys last forever! We suck on them and chew on them, and we play tug with our person, and we make them squeak! But friends, all of our toys are in very good condition, and almost all of the squeakers still work!

Because we are very good and very gentle with our toys!

But wait.

This is why we do not get NEW toys!

So I had an idea... A very perfect, perfectly naughty, but perfectly perfect idea...

I deaded my toy!

I took all the guts out! I pulled out the squeaker! I pulled out the plastic bit and chewed it in half!

(This is the first time I have deaded a toy in ages and ages! I forgot how satisfying it was!)

Aren't I clever! Now Santa will have to bring me a new toy!

Wait, what did you say Cobi? Deading a toy is naughty?? And Santa doesn't come for naughty Dogs?

No, that cannot be right. Santa will come for Clever Dogs! And that's me! I am a very Clever Dog!

Dear Santa,
My toy is Dead.
For Christmas please bring me a new toy. And bones. And treats.
Thank you. I love you!
- Ojo.

You have been a good girl, Ojo, and have not deaded a toy in a very long time. Santa understands and I bet he will bring you a new toy!

Oh Ojo thank you so much for this valuable reminder. I too tend to take good care of my toys (remarkably so for a terrier, says Gail). But I think, following your useful example, I shall set to work on deading a couple in hopes of increasing my chance of a generous new toy allocation from Santa.
Toodle pip!

Clever is right. And the stuffie had to go.

I have a goose squeaky toy just like that. And I took the squeaker and the stuffing out too. It's one of my oldest toys, and over the years, has been reduced to tatters. But I still love it!

I thought the purpose of all stuffie-squeaky toys is to destuff them. We know Mom just loves when we spread that white stuff all over the living room because she spends as much time picking it up as we spend spreading it.
