My Christmas wish this year

You know, I am six and a half years old now. I have seen a lot of the world go by. I have eaten much bacon, ran down many trails, and sniffed many smells.

And as I look around at the world, I realize I am a lucky Dog. I have a warm home. I have people who love me and keep me healthy and try to listen to me. I have learned manners, and tricks, and agility, and treibball. I can nap in whatever warm, comfy spot I wish.

But not all Dogs have this. Some do not have people. Some do have people, but the people are not always as caring. Some Dogs get hurt. Some Dogs get scared. Some Dogs are hungry or lonely or cold.

My person heard recently about a Dog who has a home, but her people don't really like her. She has to stay in the car all day so that she does not get in the way of her family. At night she stays in the laundry room. They do not really want her, but her people will not find her a new home either.

So I am sending out a prayer to all Dogs.

May you all have full bellies and warm places to sleep. May you all have people who love you and respect you and treat you with kindness. May you all be free from pain and loneliness and suffering. May you be given exercise, and taken exciting places to sniff, and be provided with good things to chew and stimulating activities to do each day.

And may you all have bacon, at least once and a while.

That is my Christmas wish this year.

That is a very good wish, Cobi. Miss Charisma came to our house because her original family didn't like it when she got carsick, and left her chained outside a lot. But she came to live with us for 13 years after that.

The rottrover sent me this link. My new rescue, Macy Blue (cause she was sad) is three.

She would get in the car every single time I opened the door. Would try to just stay in there! I work from home and load my car with packages all day before we go to the post and then for a hike. I would always leave the door open so it was her choice...but it broke my heart.

After reading this, RottRover and I both wonder if that was Macy's safe place? Had she been left in a car to get her out of the way??? I am sobbing at the thought and my heart is breaking!

I'm happy to report, Macy has over come her extreme fear of sofas and has finally accepted that she lives in a home that buys sofas for dogs! And a dog bed in every room and in the studio too! Her daily hikes in the mountain are bonding us together. I love this girl so! She brought me back to life after my 12 year old dog died this spring. I would be lost without her!

I rescue all my dogs I've owned and spoil them rotten...with bacon, tummy rubs and long hikes by a river. The only thing remarkable about me is I love my dogs!
